OUT OF KARMA

Joseph Macwan and his band ‘Out of Karma‘ are one of the UK’s most exciting and unique contemporary musical talents. Their sound, whilst difficult to define, will suck you straight in. Joseph is a songwriter who sings with an amazing vocal style, that will pierce you and then wrap you up in velvet ! Chopping the guitar with mesmerising songs the melodies and lyrics will transport you to an enraptured consciousness. The songs speak of Love, Revolution, The conservations of War, Freedom, and GOD. You have not heard anything like it. It is unique. The music has gravity and the songs reflect the spirituality and life at the centre of the music.

Like a bullet you pierce my armour, then your love it lifts me Out of Karma.

Joseph Macwan

 JAH MARNYAH

Erupting like the volcano of his home town Montserrat, the faya youth JAH MARNYAH has taken the world by surprise. Born Euclid Skerritt in Plymouth, Montserrat he was nurtured by his grandmother as a youth in the small village of Salem and observed the growing Rastafari faith of the island. To begin with he thought that one-man-on-yah but after deep meditation he realised Jah-man-on-yah where he got the name Jah Marnyah and has vowed to work for the Most High ever since. Whilst in Montserrat Jah Marnyah musically enlightened himself playing lead in school steel pan. As a result of the volcano he moved to England as a youth, where he built on the knowledge and experience of his life and became an unforgettable reggae sing-jay, songwriter. On his journey he was inspired by Montserrat’s Penny man & General Ski not to mention the militant reggae warriors Richie Spice, Luciano, Jah Mason, and Jah Cure. Jah Marnyah has collaborated with great artist’s like Diamond, Iyahkayah and sang with notorious bands; BDF (Basque Dub Foundation from Spain) and Duppy Conquerors…

OLIVER KENNETT

OL  has been described as a magician, a genius and a handsome man, although the last was by Oliver himself.
The music has many influences; the canvas of sound is as broad as possible to incorporate as many emotional expressions as he needs to communicate his music. From delicately tickled guitar passages, which put one in mind of soft summer rain, to huge thunderous riffs, along side vocals which rise and fall like the sea, the music can transport you to other places. .

He has played up and down the country, and internationally, to very excitable audiences, and is raring for a summer of fun packed, musical madness…..

 MELLOW BAKU

“I do what I Love and I Love what I Do!”

I’m MELLOW BAKU - born Mellow Harmony Avstreih. I believe I was doomed and blessed to sing! I grew up in London then Northampton, England. I spent 12 years as a child with mum sister and brother in a Christian commune. No TV or radio, but we all learned guitar chords, harmony, song writing skills and performing live. No secular/pop music played, so I was influenced by folk, Baptist hymns and gospel.

In my early years in London, from when I was in the belly till 6 years old my mum played mostly reggae, jazz, and soul continuously, which I can’t properly remember, but when I left the commune at 18 to study Fine Art in Leicester, the feeling I got hearing Bob Marley, Billie Holiday and Stevie Wonder first time as an adult was really like a nostalgic fascination and a “coming home”.

HER NAME IS CALLA

music like this should only ever be performed in the world’s finest opera houses…A Moment of Clarity is a kaleidoscopic trip of mammoth proportions.”….Angry Ape

Their first release since signing to Leeds-based Gizeh Records, ‘A Moment Of Clarity’ is one of those rare records that sounds more intense, thought provoking and ultimately BETTER with every subsequent listen…Her Name Is Calla are simply one of the brightest, most ambitious bands in the country at present and anyone who gets in the way of their bold quest to re-invent several musical wheels will find themselves crushed accordingly.Contact Music.

 MIKE SOLE

“..I am a 21-year-old jazz pianist from Leicester, England. I love music; it’s one of those beautiful things apart from our own struggling planet that I can’t put down. I love anything old as well. Mainly shit built by the Victorians, its awesome (literally). ….I have been playing for just over 18 years since the age of three. I got into Jazz music at 15 through a wonderful pair of Guys, Brian Humpherson and Mike Smith. I had my first gig when I was 16 years old with an awesome guy named Klaude who was a guy with woman’s voice! We had a residency at an underground bar In Leicester for Three Years With Double Bassist Stewart Brackley, an awesome dude who swung like a swingers joint! I currently play with another awesome dude, Chris Lee, who is without a doubt one of the city’s finest sax players. There are gig listings for us on this space. Coming Soon: A new Experimental band with Paul Warrener & Mark Adams (Tired Irie, Incredible!) Some gigs in the pipeline, come and see us, as we don’t know what the hell is going to happen! Hope to see you at gigs, supporting live Jazz in Leicester! . Awesome job Mellow! Peace”

DAVID WYATT

DAVID WYATT, singer, songwriter, emerged onto the acoustic scene with his debut album ‘China on Paper Planes’. His voice is powerful, evocative and emotive, with soaring dynamics covering four octaves through which he delivers a myriad of beautifully melodic and sometimes quirky songs, complimented by his honest guitar style. What’s refreshing in contrast to this is his humorous and slightly eccentric approach as a live performer. David has been generating a huge buzz on the live scene with stunning sold out gigs, excellent support tours, which included a 13 date tour supporting guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, as well as main stage festival appearances, all of which has attracted the attention of the music industry and built on a solid fan base.

 THE SPLITTERS

Shit the bed! SPLITTERS are out the house, titting about at the forefront of the UK ska scene. The band’s style draws on the 2-Tone spirit without imitating the 2-Tone sound or image, concentrating instead on the rhythms of original Jamaican ska and reggae but with a contemporary British feel reflecting the good times and the hardness of modern life - in short something for everyone - the Splitters draw a diverse bunch of bad things.
